In a blatant attempt to bash his union and get an upper hand in the court of public opinion between which slimy group should be less-despised (owners or union), The Washington Post reports that baseball’s steroid policy was weakened by the union’s threats to strike:

“Major League Baseball’s first steroid policy ever grew out of lopsided negotiations between a players’ union philosophically opposed to drug testing and owners deeply fearful of provoking a strike, according to accounts of people involved in both sides of the negotiations.”
