MMQB

Among the many things that annoy about Peter King’s columns (and there is oh so much to choose from), is his proclivity to tell you just how long he had access to whomever his subject of the week is. A news and notes centered around Brett Favre? Not enough, somewhere early on in there he will let you know he went to Mississippi to worship at the tractor alter. Interviewed Jerry Jones? Not enough, we have to know it was for 50 minutes. Wow. Clearly your access adds weight to your observations, right Peter? Is that what you are trying to underscore with those useless bits of info?
At any rate, this week’s MMQB is centered around Jones and aforementioned 50 minutes of access. If you care about a recap of the ins and outs of a two plus week search that yielded Wade Phillips in Dallas and celebrating in New York, Philadelphia and Washington as a result, wade in, so to speak.
We also get:
—paternalistic words about Andy Reid and his crime-spree offspring
—he’s now turning the same too-much-law-breaking officiousness he throws against the Bengals at the Chargers. As long as they have LaDainian Tomlinson, I wouldn’t worry too much, Peter.
—Feels the need to respond to Rush Limbaugh (why, Peter, why? He thrives off of response. Ignore him and he will die)
—And he closes with more on Wade Phillips. That makes it official, he appears to be smitten with Phillips a lot like he was with Nick Saban back in 2005. A common thread? When King gets access, he gives love. So 50 minutes!!! gets you Phillips and Cowboys love.
MMQB and me being irritated. It’s how I know the work week is here.
