Some Details on Josh Hancock’s Last Few Days

Apparently he had been in a somewhat serious car crash last Wednesday night/Thursday morning that he walked away from but made him late to last Thursday’s day game against Cincinnati. The team at the time said he had overslept, but the Post Dispatch is reporting this morning that he looked hungover (and Tony LaRussa mas mad about same—and LaRussa apparently knows from hungover).
Toss in eye-witnesses to Hancock’s drinking the night of the accident and one can begin to guess what the toxicology report is going to say.
Sad on every level. If it was drinking and driving that killed him, thank the deity of your choice someone else wasn’t hurt. As always, I remain confused whenever this happens (be it a simple DUI arrest to something more serious) as to why your garden variety professional athlete won’t simply call a cab. Or anyone for that matter.
