This Sucks (and David Stern Can Still Go Eff Himself)

Spurs 114. Suns 106. Dammit. Fairness? A big fat fucking 0.
What I think (not that anyone cares NBA edition):
1. The Spurs are hellaciously good, particularly when Manu Ginobili shows up like he did last night. He, Parker, and Duncan (playing as well as he ever has) were absolutely devastating. It was a reminder that they are one of the better NBA teams in the last quarter century. That said, their series win here will be forever tainted by the gift they were granted in Game 5 by David Stern and the NBA. That decision will always be unconscionable.
2. While we are here, the Spurs would do well to retire their whining tendencies, and get Bruce Bowen to cut out the outright dirty stuff. It absolutely detracts from how good they are, and, frankly, there is no reason for them to have to sink to such levels. That they see fit to whine like they do, and, led by Bowen, take dirtiness to new levels, cheapens them in ways that are completely unnecessary.
3. The sentiment is being expressed in the Swamp that, based on how this series played out and how David Stern did the Suns in Game 5, that people will be boycotting the remainder of the NBA playoffs. Yup. That is a very real reaction to what happened. While it won’t be immediately measureable, David Stern hurt his league in a very real way this week. Hubris is as hubris does and all that. He’s one ego-maniacal sonofabitch in a lot of ways right now.
4. Phoenix needs to desperately get Steve Nash one last bit of help. If the league is going to sanction dirty play such as it did this week, I would suggest the Suns find themselves their own version of Bruce Bowen for next year. They need to be ready to play in that fashion if that is what the league is going to reward.
The whole thing still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And I am not nearly alone in that. Stupid is as stupid does, David Stern.
