Following the Rick Pitino Career Arc

Billy Donovan has reportedly accepted the head coaching position for the Orlando Magic. $5.5 million a season for five years did the trick. This is obviously a huge blow to the Florida program, which has yet to name a successor. But it’s also a shot to the pride of Kentucky basketball, who like to believe their tradition and overall power is irresistible to anyone.
Pitino nabbed Ron Mercer in his first NBA Draft. It’ll be interesting to see if one of the four Gators end up on the Magic. Pitino, er, Donovan would likely have to trade up to do so, as the Magic have no first-rounder this year.
