Peter King, Backtracking Like a Sherpa

NFL

Last Wednesday, si.com’s King rallied to the defense of Roger Goodell, drawing the distinction between Vick and, say, Chris Henry or Pacman Jones. King’s apparent point? Vick should play while under the cloud.

Today? Apparently King having second thoughts. Without a trace of self-awareness, or, say, a link back to his Wednesday work, King now lays out exactly why the Falcons cannot allow Vick to start the year as their quarterback and says that Goodell may still act.

Perhaps Monday King doesn’t believe that Wednesday King ever existed.

And, um, in his non-football thoughts this week, I just don’t know what to make of this absolutely verbatim quote:

“Next time you see me, ask me about my extraordinarily fun time in a 10-and-under girls softball game in Saddle Brook, N.J., on Friday night. Space limitations, and legal reasons, prevent me from spilling here. But human beings under pressure can sure react in some strange ways.”
