NFL Supplemental Draft review
In less time it takes to draft 10 first rounders, the 2007 NFL Supplemental Draft came and went on Thursday.
The emails show that only two players were selected, and another was immediately signed as a free agent.
The Chargers all but confirmed that this will be CB Drayton Florence's last year in San Diego, as they selected cornerback Paul Oliver from Georgia in the fourth round. The Bolts hope to start two former first round picks at corner, if Antonio Cromartie shows he's ready to step up, and with the addition of Oliver the unit there looks like it will be a good one.
Baltimore picked up former Maryland offensive tackle Jared Gaither to tutor under one of the game's best LT, Jonathan Ogden. The Ravens have good depth the the tackle position, so this is a good pick for them. It only cost the team a 5th round pick in the 2008 draft.
Then, after the draft had concluded, the San Francisco 49ers continued their impressive offseason by immediately signing linebacker Mark Washington from Texas State. Washington is exactly the kind of mutli-dimensional linebacker that the 49ers are stocking up on. They are like 12 deep there now.
