The World of Cleveland is abuzz following Brady Quinn’s debut on Sunday against the Lions.

Entering the game down 23-3 with 9:20 remaining, Quinn faced primarily a soft Lions’ cover 2 prevent defense that rushed only 4 and left 10 yards in the middle of the field uncovered. Quinn checked the ball down to his backs over the middle on nearly every play, save for two impressive throws down field – one resulting in his first professional touchdown.

Quinn finished the game 13/20 for 155 yards and 2 TDs. Four of his imcompletions were spikes to stop the clock. His most impressive throw was a 24 yard laser to Steve Sanders in between deep coverage. His most impressive play was the 4 yard TD throw to Ephram Hill that came as a result of a nice scramble and and toss to the back corner of the end zone.

Despite Quinn’s shyness to throw the ball down field, he took what the defense gave him, executed the no huddle offense well, and did basically everything he was asked to do.

It was far from NFL-level competition, but seeing that Quinn clearly belonged in a different class than every other player on the field is hopeful to Browns fans that they really do have a quarterback there. Raiders fans, not so much.
