Roy Williams and I have something in common.
We're both fantasy football league commissioners.
Hat tip to Aaron Gleeman at rotoworld.com for alerting me to the genius of Roy Williams as reported by the Detroit Free Press. Highlights begin with his description of Calvin Johnson: "He's real quiet. ... He's a good athlete, he's big as hell, he's Megatron." (peep the photo).
"On how many fantasy leagues he is in: 'Five. I just set them on Tuesday, my off day, and don't move them unless something drastic happens.'"
"More on fantasy: 'When we're at the stadium and they show the highlights or the stats on the screen I'm definitely one of the guys who is paying attention to them.'
"Who's got the best fantasy team on the Lions? (Williams is the GM of the league): '(Offensive lineman) George Foster has a pretty nice ballclub. He put up 145 points this week and still has a player or two to play. His players showed up this week.'
"On what he does when a Lions' opponent is on his fantasy team: 'You bench them. If I had the Raiders' defense, they definitely would have been on the bench for me.'"
Brilliant.
