Yet Another Joe Torre Must Get Yanks to Playoffs or Else Take

Yawn.

Wallace Matthews in Newsday dusts off that NY newspaper staple for today's paper, writing:

"After all Torre has accomplished here, it still comes down to this: If the Yankees make it to October, maybe he stays. If their season ends Sept. 30 with some meaningless game at Camden Yards, then he goes back to the TV booth or out to the lecture circuit, or just home to the wife and kid."
Wow, not even a fresh annonymous source for that? Just your own thoughts? Similar to those of roughly ten million other baseball observers?

Stunning. Somewhere Mitch Albom nods in appreciation.

The Yankees start the day two games up on the Mariners in the wildcard race and have just begun the first of a three game set in the Bronx against the Mariners. Roger Clemens vs. Felix Hernandez. If you wander by a TV, probably worth a moment of your time.

In January 2003, a group of sports-loving friends launched The Sports Frog. In the time since, we have become an oasis for intelligent sports discussion on the Web. That's right, we said oasis. If you are here for the first time be sure to swing by The Swamp and join the conversation.
