Liriano Back in Florida/Arizona they are continuing with the practice games. A few things jump out:

—Francisco Liriano’s day today? 4 innings, 12 up and 12 down, 5 Ks. A year and a half beyond Tommy John surgery now. Adjust your fantasy draft sheets accordingly.

—Elbow issues continue to stalk pitching Santanas, last week it was Johan, this time around its Ervin. The Angels have shut him down and ordered an MRI. They are saying all the right things, but, well, the MRI will cut through the spin.

—Tony Larussa is toying around with using Ryan Franklin as his closer. The Cardinals can do stuff like that because Dave Duncan is a pitching coach savant.

—Richard Justice in the Houston Chronicle mulls over the Astros’ catching options in light of Toby Hall’s injury. He doesn’t think that will include Pudge.

—Obigatory Reds thought. I know its early, and the pitchers are just getting their work in, but it would be nice if Francisco Cordero at some point got someone out.
