Bernie Williams – Pure Class

I always admired the way Bernie played and also the way he managed his life off the field. I am sure he was quite boring for the scribes but the fans sure did love him. His second CD “Moving Forward” is being released on April 14th and since I love jazz I am sure I will pick up a copy.
Bernie is nothing but honest, when asked a question. If you don’t want to hear the truth, do not ask Bernie Williams.
BERNIE: I WOULDN’T HAVE LASTED WITH WIN-NOW YANKS
So reads the headline of the New York Post article. It did take a while for Bernie to develop as you can see here. But he was an All-Star for five straight years and the following year won the silver slugger for CF. Ironically, his most comparable batting stats are to Paul O’Neil, which I think would please both of them.
This year we have Gardner and Melky in CF. So is Melky, who started in the majors at the age of 21 during his first full season, going to be given time to develop? Or will the WIN NOW Yankees kick him to the curb? Bernie brings up an interesting point. Has the philosophy of the organization changed so dramatically?
I think that the overall offense is solid enough to play Melky everyday, provided he hustles, fields well, improves his batting eye and listens to the coaching staff. Someone has to hit 9th in this line-up.
