The US Draw with El Salvadore

Disappointing. Except, given that the US was down 2-0 halfway through the second half, waking up in time to force a draw (and damn near the win in stoppage time) is actually a decent result. Plus, the atmosphere for the road trip was pretty damn intense, so saving a point, even when you are the heavy favorite on the road is not a bad result. As for what led the US to the point where it needed a race-against-time finish to get the draw? The best explanation for how they looked to that point comes from Swamper Rams Fan in the thread discussing the game last night, where he said:

“They played the first 70 minutes like they all found a REALLY good bar last night.”

That’s about how it looked, all right. At the least they saved the point, and remain atop their qualifying group. Next game in the group is set for this Wednesday, in Nashville, against T & T. I hope they stay off Second Ave. and away from this nearby place, so they can play that one hard from the outset.
