Who Wants Roy Halladay?

Toronto’s listening.

MLBTR lists potential trade partners for the second best pitcher in the American League*, and I really can’t see a perfect match from the teams that MLBTR lists. If I was to pick between the Phils and Brewers, I’d obviously have to go with the Phillies, because they’d have the cash to sign Halladay after next year. Of course, that didn’t stop the Brewers from going after Carsten Charles and offering him a contract in the offseason. They just got trumped by the Yankees.

If the Jays were to trade Halladay, I certainly don’t think it’s the worst thing for them by any means. They’re probably not going to re-sign him anyway, so they can get some legitimate pieces, possibly a third baseman and a centerfielder of the future for Halladay now, instead of a draft pick later. Toronto does have some quality pitching depth–even though they’re all hurt–and while no one is in the same stratosphere as Doc, with a couple improvements to the lineup and a healthy pitching staff sans Halladay, there’s no reason they couldn’t make a run… wait… sorry, they’re in the AL East. Nevermind.
