Baseball Surprises at the Break

* Pablo Sandoval is hitting .333 which places him third in the NL. Sandoval resembles a shorter Charles Barkley, at 5-11 and 246lbs, and yet has a .964 OPS( 7th in the league). He has even played catcher three games this season. How he is not at the All-Star game is a mystery.
* The new Ballpark for the Mets – Citi Field – (bound to be renamed — at least to TARP Field) has been a very difficult place for the long ball. But is there anyone who would have though that David Wright would have 5 whole home runs. He has more caught stealing (8) than home runs.
* A big surprise is that MLB does not know what the word suspended means. I was shocked when Manny Ramirez was allowed to play in the minors during his suspension. Sure the 50 days off cost Manny about 7 million, but money is not that important back on his home planet. This is just another example of MLB’s inability to do what’s right. Given two choices A. Bud will opt for a third scenario, which usually defies explanation or common sense.
* Just a few years after Kyle Farnsworth broke a toe warming up in the Cub’s bullpen, this season pitcher Ryan Dempster tried to hop over the dugout fence to go high-five it up after a win, broke his toe and stumbled right onto the disabled list.
* Joba channeled his inner Yogi. “At the end of the day, the sun comes up and I still have a job.”
