Sam Bradford’s Immediate Future

College Football

Surgery.

And then the NFL.

Because when you need a break from the physicality of college, you take shelter in the powder-puff NFL….

Even with the protections afforded quarterbacks in the league at this point, they DO still occasionally get hit. And hit hard. By large human beings.

No matter how they fix up Bradford’s shoulder there is no way, at this point, if I am the Rams, Browns, Raiders, or whoever else might be in the market for a quarterback in the 2010 draft, I feel very comfortable staking a top pick on a damaged throwing shoulder.

At some point in the last ten years or so, people who would cry over how awful it was for college athletes to turn pro as early as possible to get to their chosen profession quickly stopped being heard quite so much. And if there are any still around, add Bradford to the ledger for going as early as you can if you are assured of being a high draft pick. Bradford may still get drafted early, but it is no longer a sure thing. And questions will now dog him into the NFL due to injury that certainly were not there a year ago.
