Well, you’re ahead of the game if you’re not fat.
Charlie Weis and Notre Dame lost 33-30 in double overtime to Connecticut and probably should have lost the game in regulation. With 58 seconds left, running back Armando Allen took a swing pass from Jimmy Clausen and promptly fumbled, giving UConn the chance to win the game with a 37 yard field goal.
Instead, UConn missed, which only prolonged the “Charlie Weis’s job hangs in the balance” quotes.
The Fighting Friedgens of Maryland gave FSU a game, but a punt that was supposed to go out of bounds didn’t, setting up a 48 yard return by Greg Reid, which led to a three yard run for the winning touchdown for the Seminoles.
Maryland fell to 2-9.
(of course, given the way that Florida State has played, I’m convinced that Northwest Missouri State could give them a game at times)
And The Mangino–who I’ve already talked about–just had his game kick off, but his oversized letter jacket is a 27.5 point underdog to Texas.
(In the never-ending saga of The Mangino, there’s apparently a clause in his contract that gives him 21 days to appeal if he’s fired with cause before the end of his deal)
If only we had directed these three to the Swamp Weight Loss thread…
