Do The College Football Awards Hate Missouri?

(note: I’m venting again)
Mizzou’s Grant Ressel was omitted from the finalists of the Lou Groza award this week, another inexplicable omission.
But hey, at least he was on the semifinal list this time!
Kai Forbath: 26-29 field goals, long of 53, 22-23 PAT
Blair Walsh: 19-21 field goals, long of 53, 37-37 PAT
Leigh Tiffin: 27-31 field goals, long of 50, 36-38 PAT
Ressel: 24-25 field goals, long of 46, 38-38 PAT
Is the committee holding Ressel’s lack of a 50 yard field goal against him? That’s my only thought. And it should be noted that the only kick that Ressel has missed all year was a 43 yard attempt in a driving rain and windstorm against Nebraska and has the highest FG% of any finalist and the second most points.
But at the same time, this is the same Groza award who ignored over the last three years the most accurate kicker in NCAA history. I guess that’s where the Biletnikoff took its cues from.
