Random Stats Tuesday

NFL

Some notes from the stats page of NFL.com…

–Jason Elam is just 12-19 on field goals this year. No wonder the Falcons brought in two kickers to practice today.

–As mentioned on Sunday Night Football, Chris Johnson has three TD runs of 85 or more yards this season. No one else has more than 3 for his career. That’s part of the reason that Johnson leads everyone else in the rushing total by at least 200 yards.

–Adrian Peterson is the only other running back with more than 10 carries for more than 20 yards. (Peterson has 11 while Johnson has 19)

–Drew Brees’s monster game last night, in which he threw for over 20 yards a completion and five TDs, pushed him ahead of Brett Favre for the league lead in passer rating.

–Neither Brees nor Favre nor Peyton Manning lead the league in first down percentage. That belongs to Philip Rivers, who leads Brees by a tenth of a percentage point.

–It’s not that surprising that the four quarterbacks with the most interceptions are Jay Cutler, Jake Delhomme, Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez.

–Matt Cassel is the league leader in fumbles, despite missing time with a knee injury.

–Five receivers have 15 catches of 20 yards or more. That would be a good swampcrash question.

–The first down percentage leader at wide receiver (among receivers with 30 or more catches) is Vincent Jackson. 87.8% of his 49 catches have gone for a first down.

–Shane Lechler has kicked off once this year. It was returned 95 yards for a touchdown.
