Consider this my highlight of the games that are of some general interest (all kick times EST):
Tonight
South Carolina at NC State: 7:00 kick on ESPN. The Gamecocks rolled NC State a year ago, 34-0. Does NC State have any pride? Or talent?
#16 Oregon at #14 Boise: 10:15 kick on ESPN. Interesting for obvious reasons. BCS implications to boot.
Saturday
Navy at Ohio State: 12:00 kick. Ohio State lost a bunch of talent, and Navy is a scheme problem. This may be much closer than anticipated.
Minnesota at Syracuse: 12:00 kick. Greg Paulus’ debut.
Western Kentucky at Tennessee: 12:21 kick. Lane Kiffin’s debut.
Western Michigan at Michigan: 3:30 kick. Interesting for practice-gate reasons. And whatever rally-around-Rich feelings are bubbling in Ann Arbor which would go away in an instant should Western win this game.
Georgia at Oklahoma State: 3:30 kick. High flying Big 12 offense against SEC defense. And #13 vs. #9.
Nevada at Notre Dame: 3:30 kick. For Weis on hot seat reasons should ND trip up—ND comes in pre-season #23.
Missouri at Illinois: 3:40 kick. Big 12 vs. Big 10 with the can-Missouri-reload question.
BYU at Oklahoma: 7:00 kick. #20 vs. #3…but I think BYU gets rolled. And the Sam Bradford Heisman campaign gets underway.
Alabama “at” Va Tech (Georgia Dome): 8:00 kick. #5 vs. #7.
Maryland at Cal: 10:00 kick. ACC predicted also ran vs. Pac 10 power. Maryland beat Cal in College Park a year ago. Should be a decidedly different outcome this time around. If not, lower Cal a ton in your mental rankings.
Sunday
Ole Miss at Memphis: 3:30 kick. Is #8 Ole Miss for real? If so, they should roll Memphis.
Monday
UC at Rutgers: 4:00 kick. Big East game between two good teams, recall UC was the Big East champ a year ago.
Miami Fla at Florida State: 8:00 kick. Traditional rivalry game. FSU ranked 18. I remember when “wide right” had meaning. It has been awhile.
